Ronda, one of the oldest towns in Spain has its origins in prehistory. We can single out among the remains of great importance, the Cave of La Pileta and numerous megalithic complexes amongst them el Dolmen del Chopo. From its Roman period we can mention the arqueological remains of the Roman City of Acinipo where we can see the theatre, forum and the baths. The cultural legacy of the Arabs is the most important in Ronda and all its surrounding area. The Moslem Ronda obtained great importance being the capital of one of the five Coras of Andalucía. Its culture remains marked through time in its urbanism, gastronomy, traditions and cultivation system. |

We must mention the many historic buildings such as the Mondragon Palace, the Arab Baths, the Moorish King's Palace, the City Walls... It was in 1485 with the conquest of the city by the Catholic Kings when a new cultural reorganisation was produced and also the city's features although it was in 18 Century which definitively marked the role of the city with respect to andalusian context. It was in this period when the most important buildings of Ronda were built. The New Bridge and emblematic construction such as the Bull Ring. |
