The town of Ubrique is situated between the mountain ranges of the orth and el Campo de Gibraltar. Its relief consists principally of mountains, ranges and pastures. A part of the territory is included in the Natural Park of the Sierra de Grazalema and another in the Natural Park of Alcornocales.
The town itself has its origin in the Christian reconquest although there previously existed an important Roman City. It spreads out over a watercourse at the foot of the mountains with the landscape typical of the white villages and with various places of interest such as Roman Ruins, the church of San Antonio, the Convent of Capuchinos or the Castle of Cardela.
Ubrique is one of the most important centres in the manufacture of leather, another reason to visit the town. |
