| 1. SALTO DEL CABRERO TRACK: |

Difficulty and duration: Medium - High because of its orientation and difficult end in the downward slope to Benaocaz. The journey is 9 km. and takes about 5 hours. Departure point: Puerto del Boyar, situated 5 km. from Grazalema on the road which takes us as for as Benamahoma. Description: Once situated in Puerto de Boyar (1.103 m. high), our journey begins by a path which runs by the same mountain side as Sierra del Endrinal and we rise gradually until we reach Puerto de Don Fernando. Here we will see various estates where today it is where there are many goatsmen taking the milk from their herds. |

Just before reaching Puerto de Don Fernando we shall see to the right the famous Salto del Cabrero, a fault of vertical walls of more than 80 m.high and separated by a gorge 50 m. wide. Once we have crossed El Puerto, we shall continue by a path which takes us to some boulders. In this stretch we must be careful, and we will descend as far as the Ubrique - Benaocaz road which we will take to the left. It is only recommendable to take this route from Puerto del Boyar as far as Salto de Cabrero and come back by the some route (due to the discomfort of returning from Benaocaz as far as Puerto del Boyar). | 2. PINSAPAR TRACK: * |
|
Difficulty and duration: Medium. The journey is 12 km. and it takes approximately 5-6 hours. It is necessary to apply for permission from the Natural Park. Departure point: The departure point is situated in km. 17 of the Grazalema - Zahara de la Sierra road on the left of the road. Description: The track begins at a height of 1.000 m and runs along the north side of Sierra del Pinar, crossing the Spanish fir forest between Grazalema and Benamahoma. From this point we begin to ascend as far as the Puerto de las Cumbres. During this ascent, we shall be able to see the village of Grazalema, the new dam and even Ronda, crowned by the Sierra de las Nieves. |

Once in the Puerto de las Cumbres, we make out across the Sierra del Pinar, in which we can see El Torreón and El Pico de San Cristóbal. Our walk continues by a path on the 43left side where there are many aluaga, maple and sloe trees. Gradually we begin to introduce ourselves in the Pinsapar where we can see disperse Spanish fir trees which form small copses until they form very green and dense wood of Spanish firs. Our route continues until we each Puerto del Pinar (992 m.) from where we can contemplate the impressive Pinsapar. Once at this point we being our descent to Banamahoma bordering the cliffs which give shelter to the griffon vulture. This stretch is surrounded by a typical Mediterranean wood of quejigo, oak and carob trees. We end in the water reservoir of Benamahoma. General Map of the Area. |

| 3. LA GARGANTA VERDE PATH: * |

Difficulty and duration: Medium - high. The route is 3 km. and takes approximately 3 hours. Permission from the National Park is necessary. Departure point: In km. 12 of the road which joins Zahara de la Sierra with Grazalema. Description: We set off from the Puerto de los Acebuches. From here we can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the valley in which runs the stream of Bocaleones and which acts as our descent path. We can also see the north face of the Sierra del Pinar populated with Spanish firs. The descendent path is steep but perfectly drawn out in the mountain wall until the arrival at the cave of the Ermita, of karst formation, full of stalagmites and stalactites. |

This is the end of the hike if we are not experts and do not take adequate climbing material to continue. We can observe the colony of griffon vultures which live on this gorge's walls. General Map of the Area. |

| 4. LLANO DEL REVÉS PATH: * |
|
Difficulty and duration: Medium. The route is 8 km. and takes approximately 4 hours. Permission from the National Park is necessary. Departure point: We leave from the same place as with the Garganta Verde from the Puerto de los Acebuches. Description: The path parallelly follows the stream of Ballesteros and borders the north hillside of Cerro El Montón. Once passed this hill, we shall arrive at El 44Llano del Revés, final point of our hike. This plain is of special interest because of its magnificent views. From here we are able to see the foothill of the Torreón, the Pico de San Cristóbal, el Puerto del Pinar and el Puerto de las Cumbreras.During this like, we may see royal eagles and other birds of prey. | 5. RÍO DEL BOSQUE TRACK: |

Difficulty and duration: Low. The hike is 5 km. and takes approximately 2 hours. Departure point: We set off from the village of Benamahoma just next to the water purifier. Description: This path follows the route by the bank of the river Majaceite (locally known as the river del Bosque) and we descend softly to the village of El Bosque.We shall walk by the of the river enjoying its small water falls, rapids and small backwaters. It is highly recommendable for its great landscape value and we can observe species particular to the eco-system of the banks of the river del Bosque.Once in El Bosque, we would recommend that you visit the fish factory and El Castillejo botanical gardens where you can admire and see the great botanical varieties of the Sierra de Grazalema. | 6. LLANOS DEL REPUBLICANO PATH: |

Difficulty and duration: Low. The route has 5 km. and it takes about 1 hour. Departure point: We set off from the village of Villaluenga del Rosario, situated on the Grazalema - Ubrique road. Description: Once in Villaluenga we follow the route by the dell Real de los Bueyes towards el Puerto de la Mesa. After a small rise to this point, we can notice grasslands and various farms. We arrive at the summit and begin the descent towards los Llanos del Republicano from where we can see the contrast of the areas of brushwood and dense cork woods. As we approach Los Llanos the landscape changes to poorer vegetation and the valley is more closed where streams abound which lead to the trough of the Republicano. We can see birds of prey and it is an ideal place for lovers of espeleology where they can enjoy numerous caves which exist in the Sierra del CaÍllo. General Map of the Area. |

| 7. CALZADA ROMANA PATH: |

Difficulty and duration: Low. It is 5 km. and takes about 1 hour. Departure point: Our journey starts in the village of Benaocaz. This village is to be found on the Grazalema - Ubrique road. Description: We leave from the view point of la ConsejerÍa de Medio Ambiente which is in this village (here we can get information about the most important peaks in the area). Our journey takes us from Benaocaz to the village of Ubrique by the old Roman pathway (the same can be done in the opposite direction i.e Ubrique - Benaocaz). At first we shall walk on a stretch parallel to the road until we see the Roman pathway which is in very good condition given that it has been renovated. Nearly from the beginning of the pathway we can see to the for end of the valley the town of Ubrique, which is our destination. We end in the fountain of Los Diez Caños. We recommend that you visit Ubrique as it is one of the most important towns in the area. We must point out the numerous world famous leather workshops as well as the church of St. Peter and the Convent of Los Capuchinos. General Map of the Area. |

| 8. HOTEL FUERTE GRAZALEMA - LAGUNA DEL RIO CAMPOBUCHE PATH: |

Difficulty and duration: Low-Medium. The route is over 10 kms. basically flat and takes about 2 ½ hrs going and coming back. Departure point: Hotel Fuerte Grazalema. Description: We leave the hotel from where the vehicles come in and when outside we cross the main road. We go to our right turning left into the second lane. A few metres down, the bath divides into two. We take the left fork. We go along this lane some 2 kms until we reach a large flat where the river Campobuche or Gaduares runs. At this level we can see to our right some ruins and one of the biggest cork trees in the whole of the National park. The tree is called the "Cork Tree of the Animas". Before crossing the bridge, we leave the path which brought us to this point by taking, to our left a narrow path which goes towards the river Campobuche. At about 300 metres, going parallel to the river, we will find an iron gate which we must leave as we find it, open or closed. The path passes through a Mediterranean wood of cark and "quejigo" trees and always follows the bank of the Gaduares which it crosses on various occasions. |

After 2 ½ kms when big rocks appear in the river, the path is less marked out, but at the end, following the river, some 500 metres further on, we arrive at a place where there is a beautiful lake or reservoir very near to the border of the provinces of Cádiz and Málaga. It is here where we turn round and head back to the hotel. NOTE. The water in the river along the route is not drinking water. Please respect the animals which you may find along the way. Only for very experienced hikers. We can inform you that following this valley in the direction of East or South East, a lane which will go separating the river by the South will lead you to the village of Montejaque after 7 km. of path (Bear in mind, that the return trip from Montejaque would mean a total distance of 24 km., so we would recommend you hire a taxi for the return trip to the hotel once you have arrived in Montejaque).
