La Herradura is a charming village on the Costa Tropical. With some 3000 people, it is the second-largest population centre in Almuñecar. It is located in a natural port composed by the bay, with Cerro Gordo to the West and Punta de la Mona to the East. This natural structure has made it into a strategic point for the transit of maritime expeditions of all civilisations throughout the ages.
La Herradura is a village that lives from tourism and, to a lesser extent, agriculture. In spite of the fact that it is an old and historical village, its population is young and full of life.
