Hotel El Fuerte hosts the exhibition ‘Entre la Ida y la Vuelta’ (Between going and returning) by Carmen Tomé
The profits will go to the Fuerte Foundation’s social projects

Hotel El Fuerte de Marbella is holding the exhibition ‘Entre la Ida y la Vuelta’ by the painter Carmen Tomé. The display will be opened tomorrow, the 6th of September, at 13.00 and will be displayed until the beginning of October.
The artist, a client at the hotel since 1988, has kindly given the paintings to Fuerte Hoteles and the profits from their sale will go to the Fuerte Foundation projects, aimed at improving social and cultural development of families, women, children and teenagers in the area.
The exhibition would like to invite spectators to remember the time in which Spaniards travelled to Latin America, taking their identities to fuse them with the welcoming towns and people, an age which saw the emergence of Flamenco songs called ‘ida y vuelta’ (Going and Returning.) According to Carmen Tomé, “this exhibition of simple drawings invites the observer to dream about that voyage, between going and returning”.
Carmen Tomé was born in Palencia in 1950. She has a degree in Pharmacy and Information Science from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid and she is currently the Technical Head of a pharmaceutical laboratory. She combines her work with Flamenco dancing, painting and drawing, which are self taught. She has also collaborated in collective exhibitions at the headquarters of the CCOO (Workers Union) in Madrid and at the Official School of Pharmacists in Cordoba. Her last exhibition was held in Havana, Cuba, during the fourth Arts and Mental Health biennial.
Grupo el Fuerte
Grupo el Fuerte currently has six hotels in Spain, located in Marbella, Conil, El Rompido and Grazalema. They have a hotel on the Mayan Riviera, and are in the process of building the Hotel Secrets Montego Bay in Jamaica. On the real estate side, they have the Calaceite Residential Estate in Torrox and for 2009, the planned opening of the All Suites Hotel Fuerte la Herradura in Almuñecar. The design and interior design studio EID also belongs to Grupo el Fuerte, which came about in response to the demand from Fuerte Hoteles. Finally, the Fuerte Foundation aims to collaborate in solving problems within their social environment.

50th Birthday
In 2007, Grupo el Fuerte is celebrating its 50th birthday, and there will be weekly cocktails in the hotels to mark this event. There was also an organ concert on the 15th of June in the Church Encarnación de Marbella, a party held on the 4th of July at Hotel El Fuerte and a painting exhibition planned for October. The Group has also published a book detailing its history and that of Marbella.
