FUERTE HOTELES SPONSORS THE SECOND PRO-AM MALAGA PROYECTO HOMBRE (Association to prevent and treat drug addiction) ‘MIGUEL ÁNGEL JIMÉNEZ’
For the second consecutive year, the Fuerte Hoteles Group is sponsoring the ‘Pro-Am Proyecto Hombre Malaga ‘Miguel Ángel Jiménez’

For the second consecutive year, the Fuerte Hoteles Group is sponsoring the ‘Pro-Am Proyecto Hombre Malaga ‘Miguel Ángel Jiménez’, a championship taking place on Monday the 29th of October at 9.30 am at the Guadalhorce Golf Club, Malaga.
The Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, presented the second year of this initiative which has grown “with its vocation, each year, to benefit charitable groups and its aim to promote amateur and professional sport in order to support ‘Proyecto Hombre’s’ financial investment in Malaga”, in the words of the Mayor.
With the money raised, Proyecto Hombre will finance a programme known as 'Entre todos', “Amongst All of Us”, helping to prevent drug addiction in schools. Thanks to this initiative, 2,584 secondary school children from 14 centres in Malaga will benefit.
This programme, up and running since 2001, focuses mainly on the social and psychological factors that push adolescents into problematic behaviour such as substance abuse. Therefore the idea is to improve personal coping strategies in adolescents through learning certain skills such as methods to resist social pressure to take drugs, strategies to solve interpersonal problems, ways to confront anxiety and training in cognitive strategies.
Second Pro-Am Proyecto Hombre ‘Miguel Ángel Jiménez’
The second year of this sporting event will involve an 18-hole course, with each hole sponsored with 3,000 euros by Fuerte Hoteles, La Caixa, Arena 2000, Council of Malaga Social Well-being Unit and Unicaja, amongst others.
The Pro-Am will be played in accordance with the gaming rules fixed by the Royal Spanish Federation of Golf and by the local rules dictated by the Competition Committee, whilst the handicap will be limited to 24 for gentlemen and 28 for ladies.
All professional players will receive a commemorative trophy and the first three classifying teams will receive trophies and golfing material.
Proyecto Hombre
Since it was set up in Malaga in 1985, Proyecto Hombre has worked to help and rehabilitate drug-addicts, modifying its approach in accordance with the changes in the type of substance used, as well as the profile of abusers and consumption trends.

50th Birthday
In 2007, Grupo El Fuerte is celebrating its 50th Birthday, and to mark the occasion it’s holding weekly cocktail parties in the Group’s hotels. There have also been two organ concerts, on the 15th of June and the 28th of September in the Iglesia de la Encarnación Church, Marbella, as well as the creation and promotion of the Friends of the Sol Mayor Organ Association by the cultural area of the Fuerte Foundation. There was a party on the 4th of July at the Hotel El Fuerte and a painting exhibition ‘Por amor al arte’ (For the Love of Art), in October. The Group has also published a book recounting its history and that of Marbella.
