The top Spanish Tennis Players Get Together at the Malaga International Tennis Master
Rafa Nadal, Moyá, Ferrer and Feliciano López have confirmed they will be taking part in the last tournament in 2007
Part of the money raised will go to the Asociación Horizonte Proyecto Hombre Drug Prevention Charity
Marbella, Malaga, 23rd November 2007
From the 30th November until the 2nd December, the 'José María Martín Carpena' Sports Palace will be holding the second Malaga Tennis Master. Rafael Nadal, Carlos Moyá, David Ferrer, Feliciano López and Pablo Martín Adalia -current indisputable champion of Andalusia, will be taking part in this tournament, international this year, thanks to the presence of the Chilean Nicolas Massú.
Nadal and Moyá will go straight to the semi-finals on Saturday as heads of their series, while the other four players will meet on Friday in a round to classify for the quarter finals. The final will be broadcast live at 16:00 on channel 2 Televisión Española.
During the tournament's presentation, the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, expressed his wish that "Malaga would become a significant name in Spanish and international sport. For those in Malaga it will be a unique chance to enjoy this great tennis championship that will close the season. If the Shanghai Masters Cup has eight of the best players in the world, we've got two of them here, Nadal y Ferrer, which means that 25 percent of the best players in the world will soon be here in Malaga".
Charitable Proceeds
Thanks to the agreement signed by Isabel García, President of the Asociación Horizonte Proyecto Hombre in Marbella, and Sportland Marbella, sponsor of the Malaga International tennis Master, the money taken from 200 season tickets at 60 euros each will go towards the fight against drug addiction.Since it began in Malaga, in 1985, Proyecto Hombre has worked helping and rehabilitating those suffering from drug problems, giving them the right treatment depending on the type of drugs consumed and the profile of the abusers and methods of consumption.
