Craftwork and fair trade in Conil
Hotel Fuerte Conil hosts the second Craftwork and Fair Trade Fair
Marbella (Málaga), 5th May 2008
On Friday May 2nd, the Hotel Fuerte Conil hosted the second display of traditional local craftwork and fair trade products. The charity Cáritas Diocesana helped organise the event via their Kuyapayana Project “Fair Trade, analternative”.
The fair had more than half a dozen stalls with the aim of introducing clients of Fuerte Hoteles to local craftwork while they enjoyed a day of entertainment with fun and games for adults and workshops for children.
Artisan in Conil
The fair show-cased a variety of artisanal products. The stands in attendance were: SIMÓN (painter), CHANO BAYON (Ceramics); REGLA LORENZO and MARIA FREIDE (fans); MANOLO (papiermâché); ANTONIO (pyrography); SEBASTIÁN (salts fromCadiz) andFAIR TRADE.
Of course, the event had another objective – the promotion of “fair trade” and adapting this concept to the company’s responsible policies. Fair trade is not charity, but rather a commercial transaction in which the producer is paid a fair price for their work, allowing them to live with dignity. Grupo El Fuerte is committed to corporate responsibility, which is why it was drawn to this event.
In future, this event will also take place in the other Grupo El Fuerte hotels.
