El Rompido golf course one of the best in Europe
The 'Peugeot Golf Guide' includes the El Rompido golf course amongst the best in Europe

The mayor of Cartaya, Juan Antonio Millán, has expressed his satisfaction at the inclusion of the Cartaya Nuevo Rompido Golf Course in the 2008/2009 edition of the 'Peugeot Golf Guide', one of the most prestigious international guides, which each year includes and describes, in detail, Europe's best golfing facilities.
The 1,000 best European golf courses are included in the current edition, with around 100 from the approximately 325 courses now in Spain. This is the first time El Rompido has been included in the 'Peugeot Golf Guide', together with 7 others spread out around the country. Significantly, these 8 new courses, with the exception of one in Madrid, can all be found in booming tourist areas.

The inclusion of this "young complex" in Cartaya, designed by the prestigious architect álvaro Arana, basically responds to the excellent reputation it has gained among golf lovers in such a short period of time. This is thanks to its "fantastic scenery" and for becoming, thanks mainly to its Northern course "a monument to modern golf, intelligent, natural and fun".
What's more the El Rompido course has received one of the highest "scores" given by this prestigious guide, with a total of 17 points out of a maximum of 20. The scores given to the 'Club House', and surrounding tourist complex also beat the average, with 6 and 7 out of 10, respectively.
Amongst the other notable marks given by the 'Peugeot Golf Guide' to the North course are the fact that it "neither scares nor overwhelms"; the fact that it ensures a modern game "because it combines power and precision"; intelligent "because it obliges players to think carefully about the strokes"; natural "because it's within a beautiful environment and does not require a single unreasonable stroke"; and finally, fun "because the skilful player will have great fun using all their tricks and highest handicaps in a great, modern course which at the same time, has a traditional aesthetic".
