Sol Mayor Organ Concert

The organist Antonio del Pino and the trumpeter José Moreno will perform at the next Sol Mayor Organ concert in Marbella

The recital will take place on Wednesday, 23rd July, at the Iglesia de La Encarnación Church

Marbella (Málaga), 21st July 2008

The Marbella Friends of the Sol Mayor Organ Association and the Fuerte Foundation are behind the concert to be given by the young musicians Antonio del Pino and José Moreno, on Wednesday 23rd July, at the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de La Encarnación Church in Marbella (Malaga). .

Antonio del Pino has a degree from the Granada Faculty of Theology and graduated in Viola and Organ from the Conservatoire in Malaga. He is currently perfecting his studies at the Pontificio Instituto Ambrosiano de Música Sacra in Milan, where he is training to be a teacher of Gregorian Chants.

The second organist at Malaga Cathedral, del Pino is carrying out interesting research in his musical archive. Outstanding aspects of this research are the Catalogue of the musical backgrounds of the twentieth century and studies of music honouring the Patron Saints of Malaga and Saint Maria de la Victoria, as well as the recovery of the nineteenth century Malaga composer and organist, Juan Cansino Antolínez. In 2006 he founded the Grupo Maestro Iribarren in order to research and uncover the chapter of musical archives.

José Moreno began his musical studies in the heart of the Young Musicians Band at the Miraflores and Gibraljaire Schools in Malaga and is studying towards the qualification of Advanced Trumpet teacher at the Malaga Higher Conservatory of Music. Amongst his teachers have been David Llavata (Solo trumpeter for the OCM), Benjamín Moreno (Solo trumpeter for the ORTVE),  Denis Konir (Solo trumpeter for the Seville Royal Symphonic Orchestra), Carlos Benetó (Luur Metals) and Juan José Serna (Luur Metals).

In 1993 he was awarded with a Special Mention at the fourth Festival of Young Performers organised by the Council of Malaga and has collaborated with prestigious groups such as the Córdoba Orchestra, City of Malaga Orchestra and Seville Royal Symphonic Orchestra. He has also been a key member of the Andalusian Programme for Young Instrumentalists - Andalusia Youth Orchestra - since its founding in 1994.  He currently holds a government position at the Malaga Municipal Band.

Friends of the Sol Mayor Organ Association

The Friends of the Sol Mayor Organisation came together to study the historical, technical and artistic values of the Sol Mayor Organ, and to collaborate in its restoration, conservation and improvement. To these ends, it aims to promote musical culture in schools to encourage children in their appreciation of the Organ.

In 2006, the Fuerte Foundation, presided over by Isabel García Bardón, took over the restoration of the organ at the Iglesia de La Encarnación church and gave the organ specialist Albert Blancafort the task of recovering its sounds, diminished by the passing of time.
