The Hotel Fuerte Rompido Suites is celebrating the Festival of the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of fishermen, on the 27th July with a maritime procession. All clients wishing to do so can reserve their place at hotel reception and enjoy an afternoon on a boat around Río Piedras.
It is traditional to celebrate the Virgen del Carmen festivities with a maritime procession, which is why Fuerte Hoteles is providing a boat for clients, which will leave the Fishing Port at El Rompido to go up the river with the other fishing boats. Clients should therefore embark at 16.30 to set sail at 17.00.
The procession, which lasts for two and a half hours, begins with the Virgin embarking at the port. Once all boats are ready, the Fuerte Hoteles boat will follow the rest in the procession up the Río Piedras for the offering of flowers, before finally returning to the port.
This is Fuerte Hoteles' way of joining in the Virgen del Carmen celebrations organised by El Rompido and involving clients in the customs of the area. As part of these celebrations, there are a number of different activities, including live music every night until the small hours.
