Fuerte Hoteles joins the "Earth Hour 2009" initiative

The chain will take part in the WWF's global event that is planned for the 28th of March, aimed at raising awareness about the effects of climate change.

The Andalusian chain Fuerte Hoteles has decided to join the largest campaign in history in defence of the environment. A commitment has been made by all of the establishments in the hotel group to switch off all room balcony lights, all of the wall lamps in the corridors on every floor and half of the lights in the halls, gardens, reception, restaurant and bar during the so-called "Earth Hour". A further commitment has been made to place as many candles as necessary in all of the hotels in order to save a greater amount of electricity.

This is how Fuerte Hoteles will take part in this event, proposed by one of the largest and most efficient international organisations dedicated to the conservation of nature.  It is planned for Saturday the 28th of March at 8:30 p.m.  The hotel chain will order all of its establishments to turn off as many lights as possible at this time. Marbella, Conil, Grazalema, El Rompido and Torrox-Costa will all participate in this way in the most important environmental event in the world.

This hour will unite more than 1700 cities in 80 countries and governments, cities and companies will be involved in this joint action to call attention to the effects of climate change. It will also raise awareness among hotel personnel and guests and put pressure on political leaders to put the necessary measures in place against C02 emissions before it is too late.
