Since 17’00 hrs of last March 1st 2007, the 9.6 km highway linking Nerja, in the province of Málaga and La Herradura in Almuñécar, have shortened the driving distance between these two towns to just 30 minutes.
This is good news for all and is very welcomed by the hotel and tourism fields in general, which expect a new tourism flow from the most consolidated destinations on the Costa del Sol.
However this piece of news has a more significant financial meaning as it makes Almuñécar become an even better spot strategically speaking, and it gives the town different infrastructure and services bringing it closer to anyone. Daily commercial and people flow will be increased and all parties shall benefit from it, as the Costa del Sol will improve the quality of its tourist offer as well, and above all diversification by offering and marketing additional trips and tourist activities to places such as La Alhambra or Sierra Nevada.
