Grupo El Fuerte presents a commemorative book on its 50th Anniversary
The book gathers testimonials and graphic documents on the development of tourism on the Costa del Sol and the history of Marbella
Grupo El Fuerte shall be presenting a commemorative book on its 50th anniversary tomorrow 24th May 2007 at 20’00 hrs at hotel Fuerte Marbella. Both the idea and management of the project come from Isabel Luque García, board member of Grupo El Fuerte, and has counted on with the cooperation of the COPE radio channel journalist, Raquel Tapia and José Juan Avilés, the Group subdirector of operations. The event shall be attended by representatives of the Town Hall and the Marbella business sector.
The book traces a deep journey through the history of Grupo el Fuerte since its founder, José Luque Manzano, first opened Hotel Fuerte Marbella back in 1957, he being one of the first pioneers on the Costal del Sol, up to the latest generations of tourists, and goes through the whole legacy of the family business.
Historical references since 1954 are to be found in its pages, as well as different direct testimonials from businessmen, hotel managers, employees, and clients of Grupo el Fuerte, “giving a unique and original character to the book” with their personal contributions, as stated by Isabel García Bardón, president of Grupo el Fuerte. Besides, the book also collects an extensive number of graphic documents given by different photographers of Marbella, highlighting photographs taken at the beginning of the 20th century being real and authentic historical items.
“The aim of this commemorative book is not only to pay an homage to all guests, staff and friends of Grupo el Fuerte in these 50 years, but also to become a reference book on tourism in Marbella”, stated the president.
Furthermore, weekly cocktails are held at all Group hotels due to its 50th anniversary. On 15th June 2007 a G major organ concert shall be held at the Marbella Encarnación church and at Hotel Fuerte Marbella there will be a big commemorative party on 4th July 2007. At present Grupo el Fuerte has six hotels in Spain located in Marbella, Conil, el Rompido and Grazalema; a hotel on the Mayan Riviera, and the Hotel Secrets Montego Bay is under construction in Jamaica. Within the real estate market Grupo El Fuerte has a residential complex known as Calaceite in Torrox and is seeking to open the All Suites Hotel Fuerte La Herradura in 2009 in Almuñecar. EID interior design also belongs to Grupo el Fuerte, and was created with the aim of covering the demand of the group. Finally, the Fundación Fuerte created with the aim of cooperating in solving the problems of its social surroundings.
Grupo el Fuerte mainly stands out for quality tourism, preservation of the environment and the continuous training of human resources, apart from the familiar treatment, privileged location of the hotels, gastronomy and the respect for history.
