The Open, which expects to have some 60 players, will be played as a Stableford Individual Event

Grupo el Fuerte is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with a Golf Open to be held in Marbella from the 11th until the 14th of October and played in the La Quinta and Marbella Golf Clubs.

The Open, which expects to have some 60 players, will be played as a Stableford Individual Event. More than 6,000 euros will be shared out amongst the two categories, with two special prizes for the longest drive and the ball nearest the hole. There will also be a Scratch prize of 1,500 euros and during the prize giving dinner, those attending will be included in a prize draw.

Fuerte Hoteles has organised this Open to celebrate the Chain’s 50th birthday, but hopes to make it an unmissable yearly event on the Costa del Sol. “Many of our clients are golf lovers so it was really important for us to organise a tournament during our 50th birthday activities”, remarked María José Antúnez, the Group’s Head of Sales, Hotel Department. It would also be “a great excuse to stay in the recently refurbished Hotel el Fuerte and combine your favourite sport with a session in the spa and a walk around luxurious Puerto Banus or Marbella Old Town”, added María José.

Fuerte Hoteles also offers packages for non players, with relaxing health and beauty sessions in the Miramar SPA&Beauty Centre at the Hotel el Fuerte.

50th Anniversary

In 2007 Grupo el Fuerte is celebrating its 50th birthday with weekly cocktail parties in the Group’s hotels. There was also an organ recital on the 15th of June in the Iglesia de la Encarnación Church, Marbella, a party on the 4th of July in Hotel El Fuerte and a painting exhibition prepared for October. El Grupo has also published a book telling its own history, and that of Marbella.
