A good piece of news for Marbella from the other side of the Ocean. The Head of the Andalusian Tourism, Commerce and Sports Department, Paulino Plata, announced yesterday during his visit to the United States that the American company Principia Technology Group, specialized in the treatment of minuscule size devices or nanotechnology, will be setting the Principia Foundation in Marbella next June. That’s not all. The prestigious company will also run a companies and universities conference in June this year with the aim of bringing this kind of technology closer to them. The Head of the Andalusian Tourism Department knew yesterday first-hand the plans of the American company through the interview held in Boston with Henry I. Smith, Professor of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Chairman of Principia.
The Principia Foundation will also have an Andalusian and Marbellí flavour since Fuerte Hoteles group will be taking part in the institution, as confirmed to this newspaper by its Managing Director, José Luque. The location of the Foundation is already known. The final headquarters will possibly be at the Ciudad del Conocimiento (City of Knowledge) likely to be built at the Guadaiza area, as established by the Costa del Sol Zoning Plan.
Creating spaces
The Head of the Andalusian Tourism Department outlined that the foundation will be the headquarters of Principia in Europe and stated that the companies and universities conference to be held in June this year will help creating opportunity spaces for companies. He also defended the creation of programmes aimed to incorporate nanotechnology to Andalusian companies.
The Andalusian Commerce Department together with the Innovation, Science and Companies Department is developing these programmes within the frame of internationalization of companies in the technological field. In this occasion it has been Paulino Plata and not the Head of the Andalusian Innovation Department, Francisco Vallejo, the one in charge of transmitting the Principia Technology Group projects on the Costal del Sol.
