The Department of Business Administration and Marketing of the Faculty of Business, University of Huelva, has given an homage to the Fuerte Hoteles chain as recognition to its internationalization work.
The Andalusian hotel chain was awarded the ‘I Award on International Strategy for Tourism Trade 2006’ by the University for being the first one to open a hotel establishment abroad (the Sunscape Puerto Aventuras Hotel was opened in 2005 along the Mexican Mayan Riviera); also for being an entrepreneurial example based on its decisions on strategical development, as well as for taking special care of both the environment and its human team.

During the course of this event Fuerte Hoteles President, Mrs. Isabel Mª García Bardón and Director, José Luque García, spoke on the history of tourism in Andalusia since its beginning on the Costal del Sol, its present and future outlook, and also on how an Andalusian company gets embarked in such a difficult issue as internationalization.
The Rector of the University of Huelva, Francisco José Martínez and the Professor of the Faculty of Business Administration, Antonio Manuel Martínez López, also attended the event
