Fuerte el Rompido becomes the first Huelva hotel achieving this certificates which guaranties its total respect to the environment

The hotel Fuerte el Rompido, located in the Huelva town of Cartaya, has been awarded the certificate of Environmental Management ISO 14001:2004 by AENOR, a system which guaranties that all hotel activities achieve a high level of protection to the environment within the frame of sustainable development.

This certificate has been awarded due to the special commitment of the hotel chain Fuerte Hoteles towards the environment and which stands out in this four star hotel which has been created in a sustainable way from the very beginning and during its exploitation. Different aspects have been considered in this respect such as minimizing environmental impact produced in the hotel surroundings, integrating the hotel in the surroundings, running all measures in order to control all generated waste, energy saving thanks to the use of solar panels or contributing to the social-economic development in the area where the hotel is located.

In this respect and during the construction of the hotel Fuerte el Rompido, different environmental steps have been taken into account, specially bioclimatic steps taken with the aim of reducing the maximum possible energy and identifying the best hotel exposures; this has involved the massive planting of brushwood to the West, broom being an excellent natural 'wind stopper', operable timber windows in the upper part of the lobby, a generous insulation layer in doors and windows or the natural stone floorings, just to mention a few.

Likewise special consideration has been taken regarding the location of the hotel, located right within the Marismas del Río Piedras y Flecha del Rompido natural area, the only one on the Andalusian coast having a dynamic geomorphology making the 'Flecha', which is 12 km long, grow an average of 30 metres per year during the last century.

For this reason hotel Fuerte el Rompido has been designed with the aim of providing its guests the possibility to rest, enjoy nature, practice numerous sports such as golf in a wonderful 18 hole golf course to which another 18 hole round has been added at the beginning of June, or relax at the Hydrotherapy centre Miramar SPA & Beauty, where guests can enjoy UVA rays, massage cabins, sauna, dynamic swimming pool, circular shower, seeweed baths beauty or hydro-massage treatments, among others.

The hotel chain Fuerte Hoteles has achieved many awards, specially the Doñana award to the Sustainable Company 2005, for its commitment towards the environment in the province of Huelva.
