About the Asociación Horizonte
The Asociación, which assists an average of 50 young people per year, works on different projects such as the educational therapeutic programme helping people with drug addiction problems, and prevention programmes. These programmes are held at the insertion centres located at Las Albarizas, La Patera and El Ángel de Marbella. Likewise the Asociación runs a 24 hours monitored shelter flat for drug addicts who follow a treatment, apart from giving advice to their families and training volunteers.
The Asociación Horizonte was created in 1982 by a group of Christian married couples with the aim of helping marginal youngsters. During the first years the activity was focussed on talks on drug prevention at the Marbella schools, and in 1984-1985 the association cooperated with the Málaga Bishopric and the Franciscan Tertiary Order, and founded the Málaga Centro Español de Solidaridad, which together with its Board run the Proyecto-Hombre Programme for Málaga and its province.
