Conil is much more than just fun and beaches. The city's streets have a story to tell through their ancient towers and churches rising above the uniformity of the traditional white houses. The arch of the Puerta de la Villa, a remnant of the walled grounds that have become one of the city's most emblematic sites, is the gateway to narrow lanes of medieval design, where the traditions of Cadiz live on.
Santa Catalina Square is home to two of the oldest and most authentic cultural sites in Conil de la Frontera: Guzman Tower, where the sandstone blocks take on a gothic tone, and the Church of Santa Catalina, an interesting blend of gothic and Neo-Mudejar styles.
There are also sites like La Chanca, where the past is kept alive. Within the walls of these enormous apple-shaped grounds, the city's most important activity is carried out: tuna canning. To learn more about the old customs, you can visit the Museo de Raíces Conileñas, where you will find centuries-old objects of daily use and implements of historic trades.
