The cuisine of El Rompido

The freshness of the seafood and the intense flavour of the sausages are two of the star attractions of El Rompido's cuisine. The white prawns, king prawns, cuttlefish, shellfish, breaded fillets, octopus and cod are prepared in numerous ways, to suit the tastes of even the most demanding connoisseurs. The mountain hams, the lamb and the suckling pig, grilled in coal ovens following the old customs, provide a delightful touch of authenticity.

For those with hearty appetites, further temptations await, created from recipes with an unmistakably old-fashioned flavour that have been handed down from generation to generation. These include the piñonate and the Torta Real (royal cake). When it comes to drinking, besides the delicate fruited wines, you will have the chance to sample the famous brandies of La Palma and the anise liqueur.
