Impressive expanses of limestone, vertical valleys and maze-like caves make up some of the most beautiful countryside in Andalusia: Sierra de Grazalema. Considered by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve, this land is populated by dense Mediterranean forests, where timid roe deer run and predatory tawny vultures fly.
The Garganta Verde (a canyon that descends for 400 metres), Hundidero-Gato (the longest cave in Andalusia) and the Cueva de la Pileta (a cave with archaeological ruins) are just a few of the gems you will find in the Sierra.
The hiking trails are another attraction that any guide to the Sierra de Grazalema Nature Park will point out for you. The adventurous at heart can tackle the Pinsapar Trail, which starts a thousand metres up, but if you're looking for something less difficult, the Woodland River Trail, with its little waterfalls, is ideal.
