Conil. Natural Park
Conil, surrounded by pine forests and the waters of the Atlantic, has,
in the natural park of Acantilado
(low cliffs) and Pinar de Barbate (pine trees of neighbouring
Barbate), the
authentic ecological treasure of the region. The forest
is in fact man-made, and appeared thanks to a reforestation
programme realized at
the end of the 19th century, as part of a land retention
plan to preserve local beaches and dry land areas.
The Natural
Park of the Bay of Cádiz, with approximately
10,000 hectares of terrain, displays the special ecological
characteristics of this unique humid/temperate littoral,
an effect of both the proximity of the ocean and the prevailing
milder Mediterranean climate of Andalucía.
Also nearby, the Natural
Park of Grazalema and Doñana.
