El Rompido. eXCURSIONS. VISIT TO A DRIED MEATS FACTORY AND JABUGO HAM CURER

The pure Iberian pig from CUYAR is the result of a strict genetic regime to ensure purity of the race, and maintain unbeatable quality. Cuyar Dehesa, or Farm is in the municipality of El Castillo de las Guardas, where the mothers are selected and the suckling pigs, which will later frolic in freedom around the farm, are born.

The facilities at Jabugo:

The main facilities are found in El Repilado, an old train station in the well known town of Jabugo, nestling in the mountain range of Huelva and next to the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche National Park.

The 4000 square metres of the farm have everything needed to make cured meats and hams: the dried meat production area, deboning and cutting area for ham; ham salting area; temperature control chambers; natural ham curing room and storage room or bodega. There’s also a reception room for visitors and a shop selling all the products.

The visit:

1.- Arrival at the Repilado-Jabugo to visit the factory. The trip passes through some of the really beautiful sites of the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche National Park.

2.- Guided trip in groups of 20 around all of the factory.

3.- While the groups are waiting, they can enjoy a breakfast of Iberian Ham sandwiches, Sobrasada, or spicy pork sausage sandwiches, coffee and juice.

4.- Leave for Cuyar Farm, in the Castillo de las Guardas.

5.- Typical country lunch in the Farmhouse.
