Here are some hiking trails for the surrounding areas:
- Ensenada de la Herradura-Punta de la Mona-Cerro Gordo: this goes through Punta de la Mona, along the Granada Highway to Almuñecar and from there towards la Mona along the Costa Highway. It’s a simple trail along the coast and takes around an hour.
- Salobreña-Almuñecar: an easy trail along the main two areas on the Costa Tropical. Amongst other highlights is passing by the Salazones (salting) factory and a beautiful Roman aqueduct. It takes around two and a half hours.
- Sierra de Cazulas-Almuñecar-Otívar: although it’s uphill, this trail is easy and takes about three hours. The beaches and beauty spots run alongside the Río Verde.
