MARBELLA. Rural tourism. Ornithology
Without a doubt, Marbella and its surroundings make it one of the major
bases from which you can head for the natural parks and
the mountain ranges of Málaga and Cádiz and encounter a
bewildering range of bird life, from the tawny vultures of the Sierra
de Grazalema, to the
vast flocks of flamingos in the Parque
Natural de la Laguna de Fuente de Piedra or the imperious profile of the royal eagles and peregrine
falcons in the Parque
de la Sierra de las Nieves.
Other species of bird you will see in the Parques
Naturales include the European
falcon, common sparrowhead, Bonelli’s
eagle, royal eagle, common kestrel, royal owl, common owl,
tawny owl, greater spotted woodpecker, robin, goldfinch,
common greenfinch, hoopoe, common barn owl, perigrine
falcon and the Egyptian vulture.
