MARBELLA. Where to eat. The Baker's Oven
The ‘obrador’, that part of the kitchen given over to the
baker, their equipment and ingredients, is the fundament of the sweetest
elements of Spanish cooking. Cake and bread making ovens are the source
of our finest pastries, the ultimate being the grand wedding cake. Supplying
large companies, hotels or restaurants, they also offer the same delicacies
to the individual shopper, who appreciates the individual touch of a small
kitchen to the production-line standardization of the major supermarkets.
Although they grow fewer and fewer, due largely to forces such as globalization,
there are still some where you can walk in and smell the sweetness wafting
from their ovens and tireless kneading machines.
