At Fuerte Hoteles we’re ready to take another step forward in our commitment to sustainable tourism.
Will you join us?
At Fuerte Hoteles, we are continuously reinforcing our commitment to sustainable tourism and the environment. One example of this is how we’re protecting our seas and ecosystems through the Marbella Marine Recovery Project, together with the NGO Equilibrio Marino. This collaboration works in tandem with the Clean Seas project and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14. The value of Marbella’s marine area is incalculable, and at Fuerte Hoteles we are determined to defend it.
At Fuerte Hotels, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility framework, we are committed to ensuring energy efficiency in all our hotels. To do so, we’ve implemented numerous measures to reduce harmful CO2 emissions.
This includes the use of LED lights, automatic air conditioning disconnection systems, renewable energies, use of circular economy and recycling measures, use of local food products, and the exhaustive monitoring of energy consumption and our carbon footprint – all to help preserve our invaluable environment.
All these initiatives, and many more, form part of our Clean Seas project. As part of it, we have been working on numerous programmes for more than 2 years to help preserve our environment, reduce our carbon footprint, and promote the circular economy.
In October 2022, Fuerte El Rompido began selling reusable bottles, helping eliminate the use of plastics and protect our environment. The advantages of using this type of bottle? They’re reusable and recyclable; they’re made with environmentally friendly material; they don’t contain Bisphenol A; they’re easy to clean; and they have a unique and practical design.
Last October 2022, the heads of department and management of Fuerte El Rompido organised a sustainability initiative in the Piedras river area. It consisted of cleaning up the space and collecting the rubbish accumulated on the riverbank and its paths. In total, some 18 kilos of rubbish were removed, consisting mainly of cigarette butts, bottles, plastics and other waste, as part of a commitment to preserving this natural area.
In 2018, we worked with the Glacual de la Nava association on the conservation of the Spanish fir forest in the Sierra de las Nieves, one of the last remaining forests of this type in the world. The association carried out clearing work on one of the plots to remove dead specimens, thus reducing the risk of fires and allowing light to enter and regenerate the land.
The Fuerte Foundation, on behalf of its hotel brands, including Fuerte Hoteles, carries out outstanding social and cultural work with a variety of bodies and associations to fight to put an end to all forms of poverty.
At Fuerte Hoteles, we work to improve the ratio of local and seasonal products used and purchased every year, with the aim of ending hunger, providing food security, improving nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture.
We have various systems in place to reduce water consumption as much as possible, minimise water wastage and reuse it in garden areas, and more similar activity.
We are committed to the use of renewable energies and the implementation of systems to improve energy efficiency
We promote quality employment as a means of integration.
We update our health and safety protocols to offer the best guarantees to customers and employees.
We work to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
Fuerte Hoteles’ responsibility covers not only external projects, but those within our facilities too, and we have a wide range of sustainable initiatives and activities aimed at reducing our impact and consumption as much as possible.
We take action to combat climate change and its effects.
Our commitment to the conservation of biodiversity and marine ecosystems is real and participating in projects such as the Marbella Marine Recovery Project is the best way to demonstrate this. We care about our planet.
Since Fuerte Hoteles was founded in 1957, the Fuerte Foundation has been responsible for supporting the brand in the implementation of initiatives that foster the social and cultural development of its guests, staff and areas in which the hotels are located.
The body is currently led by the President and Members of the Board of Directors of Fuerte Group Hotels and has been working for more than 60 years under its slogan We look after both people and the environment.
